About

Bangalore Fashion Week

Meghana is an international actress (SAG-AFTRA), writer, and serial fish-out-of-water. Her path has been more zigzag than straight line, and she couldn’t be more grateful for it.

Originally from Huntington Beach, Meghana moved to Bangalore, India to begin her acting career. Yes, LA would have been closer as her parents pointed out 7,253 times, but India was simply calling. Also, she has no sense of direction. She was a lead in several feature films across genres in the Kannada film industry (aka Sandalwood), including the immensely popular comedy Venkata in Sankata and the indie hit drama Bengaloored, and has worked with nationally and internationally renowned luminaries such as Ramesh Aravind, Suhasini Maniratnam, and the late Girish Karnad.

In India, she saw firsthand how changing global dynamics were impacting local markets. It piqued her interest and prompted another move, this time to Philadelphia. At the Lauder Institute and the Wharton School, Meghana earned a dual masters in international studies and business administration. Her thesis compared drivers of domestic and international success of Indian, French, and Spanish films. It was called Same, Same, but Different. No, it was not, but it could have been. However, grad school reinforced the idea that we share messy and often hilarious similarities, beautiful and worth celebrating along with our differences. Meghana loves to explore that theme in her first love, storytelling.

Now based in LA, Meghana’s acted in commercials, TV, and film projects. She also started writing, and a half hour comedy pilot she wrote made rounds at several major studios. Meghana loves being part of a team and serving her community, and she is currently on the National Asian Pacific Asian Media Committee for SAG-AFTRA. The zigging and zagging have given Meghana a broad perspective, adaptability, and a sense of humor, which she brings to all she does.

When she’s not working, she can be found on the floor playing with her toddler sons or in the kitchen trying out new recipes and dancing with her husband (part of her ploy to get him to clean up after her but SHHH don’t tell him!). Meghana has no new plans of picking up and starting over, but she makes sure to keep on her toes by always having something new she’s learning and some place new she’s traveling to.
